Event Detection Intelligent Camera

The Event Detection Intelligent Camera (EDICAM) is a high speed camera to observe hot plasma inside experimental fusion reactors. The extreme conditions around a fusion reactor makes observation very hard (high temperature, high magnetic field...)

EDICAM is not just a fast camera, it has many useful features tailored for high speed event detection. It can speed up image acquisition by reducing image resolution focusing on "interesting" regions. It features a real time image processing pipeline which can calculate statistics, generate events. Because of the real time processing, the system can make decision and react to changes very quickly, and follow important events closely.

EDICAM was co-developed with our partners: Wigner RCP , Cerntech Ltd., Adimtech Ltd. Our contribution was the FPGA FW design, implementation, testing. EDICAM devices were successfully deployed in Wendelstein 7-X Germany and JT-60SA Japan
